ABOUT US
Taylor Bakke started Always Bent Fishing in 2021 as way to share his daily fishing adventures. After covid he found himself fishing almost every day, so he started a separate page on social media strictly for sharing his passion for fishing. Along the way he met many friends and fishing buddies, learned new techniques and tricks, targeted new species, and reignited his love for pelagic species and offshore fishing. When Taylor linked up with Jeff Rosenkilde what started as a hunt for striped bass quickly turned into chasing bluefin around inshore all winter, and it snowballed from there! As they fished together more and more they noticed that they both loved seeing and helping other people catch fish just as much as they enjoyed catching fish themselves! Both being captains, they could go the traditional route of a charter boat or fishing guide, and that is one way to help, but in todays day and age they had an even better idea! To be able to help and teach people how to catch fish, by themselves on their own boat, with their own gear and tackle, nothing beats that feeling as an angler! Which brings us to the Always Bent Academy, your all in one solution for fishing intel for the Mid-Atlantic region, both inshore and offshore! Jeff and Taylor enjoy both inshore and offshore fishing which made for a perfect fit, with Jeff being an offshore enthusiast and Taylor being an inshore guru, when they teamed up and worked together, they both caught more fish! Living here on the shore, Jeff and Taylor are out on the water almost 365 days a year and have a combined 40 years experience fishing the local waters of Ocean City. Another big thing they had in common was analyzing data and seeing how they could use that data to increase their odds of catching fish, and that is what Always Bent Academy is all about!
Always Bent SST Analysis are Based on data local to the mid Atlantic fishery. Our analysis are based off 3 things, SST Data, observed wind data and Intel from our exclusive fishing network. Here at Always Bent, we match Fishing reports obtained by our network with scientific data that backs up the viability of the report. “Without data, fishing reports are useless” is what we live by. Our goal is to make sure each customer is not only catching more fish, but learning why they are.
Our advantage over our competitors is we are local to the mid Atlantic and fish these waters daily. We understand how wind effects current locally here in the mid Atlantic and we take 5 day wind history into consideration when trying to ascertain the movement of water boundaries. Not only are we experts on finding fish here in the mid Atlantic but we also are testing our work. Jeff fishes about 50-60 trips a season and will be sharing his fishing trips with paying customers.
We created this business to save our customers time. Owning a boat and preparing for a trip can be a daunting task to consider all of the variables, especially when traveling from another area to the mid Atlantic to fish, Don’t stress, we got you covered! We save our customers 100s of hours a year by doing the scouting for you. As a member we do more than just give you coordinates to where we caught fish, we show and teach you how to use our tools, data, and reports, to find and catch more fish on a consistent basis. Jeff has been fishing the mid Atlantic out of ocean city for 15 years and has many accolades to his name. Jeff credits most, if not all his success to using ocean data to locate fish. In the last 3 years, Jeff has begin to take his passion of oceanography and create a business to help others. Since leaving the insurance industry, Jeff has done very well in the fishing world. Including 3rd place tuna in the 2023 Ocean City Tuna Tournament with a 208 pound bluefin, and most recently a 2nd place finish in the Tuna division of the White Marlin Open with a 247 pound Big Eye as well as 1st place in the small boat division of the 2023 White Marlin Open! Jeff is also a state record holder for the deep water pomfret, he caught off the coast of ocean city. Jeff has also managed to catch the earliest known recreational Tuna out of Ocean City, April 21st 2016 and has over 5 different seasons with the first reported tuna out of Ocean City, including first Yellowfin Tuna for 2024! Taylor grew up here in Ocean City and grew up fishing the local waters. Taylor started off the 2024 season with a 2nd place finish in the Blues for DU Tournament at Bahia Marina and knows our inshore fishery inside and out! Inshore fishing can be just as tricky as offshore fishing, having a good report can help! Using the same techniques and data we use for the offshore reports we are also able to provide an in depth inshore report as well! As we continue to grow we hope to be able to help everyone from the angler on the bridge, jetty, or surf, to the anglers out in the ocean, from sea bass to bluefin, and everything in-between our reports can help anglers catch more fish! PS If you fish as much as we do the membership option is for you!
